DNOW (also known as DiscipleNOW), is a weekend retreat in our community and at our church for students in 7th-12th grade. The purpose of this weekend is to help teenagers understand God and His will for their lives in a deeper way. Throughout the weekend, students will have dedicated times to worship God and study His word. These times will be led by a guest speaker and band. Our guest speaker is Britton Latham, the planter and pastor of Church of the Oaks in Birmingham, AL (and former co-youth pastor with our lead pastor, Rob Hatfield!). Our guest band is led by Solomon Hall who is a worship leader at All Christ Church (formerly Auburn Community Church). He is also a good friend of our music
During DNOW, students will be split up into groups based on their grade and gender. Each group will be led by multiple adult leaders who have been vetted and background checked. These groups will have discussion times together, play games together, and spend the night at a home together. Students will be staying in the homes of different families from Central. They will be transported by authorized adults in church vans or personal vehicles. Students will not be allowed to drive anywhere on their own once they arrive at DNOW unless approved of by a parent.
All meals other than one meal on Saturday will be provided. On Saturday, students will go eat at a restaurant with their group for one meal and they will need money for this. On Friday, pizza will be provided later in the night but students may want to eat something before they come.
Below you will find the sign-up form and packing list for DNOW. The cost is $60. This price includes meals, activities, and a DNOW T-shirt. There are also scholarships available! If you have any questions please contact our student minister, Russell Mann, at 256-651-3589.
Packing list:
--Sleeping bag/blanket with bedding and pillows (students may bring an air mattress if desired) Towel
--Toiletries
--A snack AND a 2-liter drink/other drink to share with the group at the homes at night. All main meals are provided except for lunch on Saturday.
--$20 to go to a restaurant with their group
--Clothes for two days
--A warm jacket AND some athletic clothes
--PJs
--Sunday morning pants/shoes (they will be wearing their DNOW shirt Sunday morning)
--Medications (if necessary)
--Bible
--No prank items, fireworks, or weapons of any kind
DNOW es un retiro de fin de semana en nuestra comunidad y en nuestra iglesia para estudiantes de 7º a 12º grado. El propósito de este fin de semana es ayudar a los jovenes a entender a Dios y Su voluntad para sus vidas de una manera más profunda. A lo largo del fin de semana, los jovenes tendrán tiempo dedicado a adorar a Dios y estudiar Su palabra. Estos horarios serán conducidos por un predicador invitado y una banda invitada.
Durante DNOW, los jovenes se dividirán en grupos según su grado y género con lideres. Estos grupos tendrán momentos de discusión juntos, jugarán juegos juntos y pasarán la noche juntos en una casa. Los jovenes pasaran las noches en las casas de diferentes familias de Central (los jovenes no tienen que pasar la noche). Serán transportados por adultos autorizados en camionetas de la iglesia o vehículos personales. A los jovenes no se les permitirá conducir a ningún lugar por su cuenta una vez que lleguen a DNOW a menos que lo apruebe un padre.
Se proporcionarán todas las comidas excepto una. El sábado, los estudiantes irán a comer a un restaurante con su grupo y necesitarán dinero para esto. El viernes, se proporcionará pizza más tarde en la noche, pero es posible que los jovenes quieran comer algo antes de venir.
