A Moment in the Word . . .
"I will come
to church when I get good enough." Chances are that
you have heard this before. Maybe you have even said
it yourself. But there is good news, the Bible tells
us in Ps 14:3, There is none who does good, No, not one.
That includes you and me.

the watchman.....
I have posted watchmen on your walls. O Jerusalem; they will never be
silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and
give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of
the earth. Isaiah 62:6-7
What is the Watchman Prayer Ministry?
The Watchman Prayer Ministry is a lay ministry at Central Baptist Church.
There are four symbolic walls North, South, East and West, with 24-hours a
day, 7 days a week on each wall. Prayer warriors pray a hedge of protection
around our fellowship, and intercede on behalf of our ministries.
A Watchman is a prayer warrior answering God's call to commit to pray for
our Jerusalem, that is, CBCDecatur. Watchman will pray for a designated hour
each week and then call the Watchman after them to pass along the watch so
there will not be any time gaps on the Wall.
Who can be a Watchman?
Teenagers, college students, couples, families, singles,
homebound, anyone!
What do we pray about?
Pray for specific prayer needs requested by our pastors, ministry leaders,
staff, missionaries, and church family.
When do we pray?
You will choose one designated hour each week as your prayer time
on the wall.
How do I pray for an hour?
Each new Watchmn receives a folder with instructions and prayer ideas.
A Watchman Prayer Alert is published monthly and mailed to the Watchman with
the many prayer requests from all the pastors and ministry leaders of the
church.
Most Watchman are commenting that they are running out of time.
Where do I pray?
Anywhere... home, office, church prayer room, outdoors, wherever!
Why do I call the prayer warrior following me?
The call you make after your hour expresses not only your love for and
support of the watchman who follows you, but also provides the
accountability that holds him answerable for his hour of commitment. Someone
will call you, too!
